Chameleon Habitat | Lighting & Temperature | Drinking Water & Humidity | Feeding & Nutrition
Panther chameleons typically DO NOT drink from a standing water dish, they prefer and are attracted to dripping and/or moving water. We recommend using a dripper bottle and/or a misting system for proper hydration. Your chameleon will drink the water droplets off of the leaves as they fall from the mister or the dripper bottle. It is also important to mist your Panther Chameleon with a regularly cleaned spray bottle at least 3 times a day for approximately 1 minute getting all the leaves and branches nice and wet inside your chameleon’s enclosure. You can also use a drip system to provide water over a prolonged period daily along with a mister system if you’d like, but be careful too much water inside your enclose can cause health issues by allowing mold/bacteria to fester so make sure the cage is able to dry out fully between watering sessions. While waterfalls may seem like a nice addition to an enclosure and may help with humidity inside the cage we DO NOT recommend them. Waterfalls can quickly fill with harmful bacteria and can be extremely dangerous to your chameleon’s health. Make sure any spray bottle used for misting or drip system is empted and cleaned regularly to prevent harmful mildew and bacteria growth. Below are pictures of a few watering options you can choose to hydrate your chameleon.
