What is cold processed soap?
Cold processed soap is a method of making soap where no extra heat is used to create the product. The combination of lye, butters and oils create their own heat. Because there is no extra heat involved there is a curing process that needs to take place for up to 6 weeks after soap is made and sliced into bars. It can be quite a time consuming process.
The beauty of cold processed soap is the endless creativity of making soap. Not to mention the ingredients are almost always better for you and the environment. These soap bars can last for several months vs the store bought pump soaps loaded with toxic chemicals.
Soaps can be made with different blends of essential oils and herbs to take on alternative medicinal uses. Handmade soaps aren't FDA approved or certified, but soap making has been around for centuries along with essential oils. There are many great reviews over time on how the ingredients and plant properties help with different ailments.
As always, it is recommended to do your research before blending ingredients. Consult your physician if you are concerned about any of he soap ingredients.

It takes a few times to get comfortable with the process. Once you have your materials try to organize your space in order of the steps. Don't be discouraged the first time a batch does not come out as you expected. After all, soap making is technically chemistry. (I was never good at chemistry...I had to study.)
If you don't have all the utensils you need you can find them at local stores or resale shops. I visited our local resale shop for spoons, pans and pots. No sense in ruining brand new expensive utensils and pans! Also, shopping in bulk helps reduce the cost of the materials.
